4K club/ environment

  

This is a very active club currently with a membership of 60 pupils

Its registered with the ministry of Agriculture. This enables the club to compete locally and nationally

 In the year 2011 the club was involved in; a)seeds planting

                                                             b)seedling planting

                                                             c)multi- storey gardening

The club harvested sukuma wiki spinach, marantha, managu and onions. At times the members shared the produce and took them home. At other times they sold the produce to themselves, other students, teachers and the school canteen.

During the year 2011 Agricultural assessments, the school was ranked position one in the zone , division and in the district. The club was position five (5) in the province. this is because the club had not initiated animal husbandlyproject. However, their effort was awarded with a horse pipe120 feet long.

The club enjoys enormous support from the school which provided the garden and the initial capital toopen the land. The ministry of Agriculture through its field extension officers have provided ; training, seeds and assessment.

challenges

The club would like to iniate the following projects in the year 2012;

a)composite mature

b)Fish harvesting

c)water harvesting

d)continue with farming

e)Carry on more tree planting activities

f)Start green house farming

The biggest challenge that hinders the development of the projects is inadequate finances. Although the children do contribute, their contributions are far much below the requirement to finance any of the above projects.
